OVERVIEW
- What is OnSite?
- Inet OnSite is a Web Camera service for construction sites. OnSite automatically takes high-resolution digital
pictures at the site, transmits them via the Internet to an on-line picture database, and publishes them on the Web.
- Why does OnSite take still pictures rather than video?
- Under the best of conditions, video transmitted via the Internet is limited to a small window of blurry and choppy images;
very often, video over the Internet does not work at all. Large and clear still pictures are far more useful for monitoring
and documenting construction activity. OnSite is capable of taking excellent-quality pictures frequently. Picture resolution
ranges from 640x480 to 2048x1536. Once the project is complete, a time-lapse video can be created from the pictures.
- How much of my project will I be able to see?
- The camera has a zoom lens, which can provide a horizontal visual angle of 59 degrees (full wide angle) to 21 degrees (full zoom.)
Special lenses are available to extend this range from 70 degrees to 15 degrees.
- Can you zoom, pan and tilt the camera(s)?
- Optical zooming is used during system setup to frame the field of view. A fully digital zoom / pan / tilt mechanism,
using high-resolution imaging, is used to examine in detail the most current picture from the camera. OnSite's digital zoom / pan / tilt
does not require mechanical devices that are failure prone, expensive, and difficult to install.
- What do I get for my monthly service fee?
- The OnSite service fee includes all automatic software upgrades, life-of-service on-line storage and backup of your pictures,
unlimited Internet access to your pictures, and active system monitoring, management, and support by a professional support team.
THE PICTURE DATABASE
- How often are pictures taken?
- Pictures are taken on any requested interval and can be started and stopped at the same time everyday. For example,
pictures can be taken once per hour throughout the work day Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 5:00pm.
- How long do pictures remain on line?
- Every picture that is stored in the OnSite database remains on line for as long as OnSite service remains active at the site.
- What happens when the project is over?
- All pictures from the Inet OnSite database can be stored permanently on CD-ROMs. In addition, a time-lapse video can be created
from the picture database..
- How do I access OnSite pictures?
- OnSite pictures can be accessed through the intuitive OnSite viewer application that works in any Internet Web browser.
The last picture taken from each camera is automatically displayed as the most current, and the pictures stored in the database
can be retrieved by either date and time, or user-defined captions.
- Can access to the pictures be restricted?
- Access to the pictures is controlled on a per-camera basis. For example, at a site with two cameras, access to the pictures
from one camera could be open to the public, while the pictures from another camera could require a password.
- Can I get OnSite pictures to appear on my Web page?
- Your current OnSite pictures can be displayed directly on your own web page. Just ask your Web developers to call our
support line and our technicians will send them the specific information for your site.

The data cable can be as long as 1.2 kilometers or 4,000 feet with no image degradation. Up to four cameras can be connected to the same PC.
